The Extraordinary Give may only be one day out of the year, but the Community Foundation is committed to supporting our community benefit organizations all 365 days of the year (and on leap years), so we’re excited to announce the return of ExtraGive Tech Talks. These free professional development opportunities featuring nationally recognized thought experts in their field will provide opportunities for organizations in Lancaster County to learn, succeed, and thrive in their work in the ExtraGive and beyond!

The first two Tech Talks have been announced, with two more on the way in October!

Tech Talk #1: The Future of Storytelling

Monday, September 19 8:30-11am

Whether you’re enticing donors for the Extraordinary Give, or trying to gain supporters for your next big program, how your organization tells the story of its work is the most important factor in whether or not you’ll get the attention and support you need. In the modern age of small attention spans and huge amounts of information, learning to tell compelling, engaging stories about your organizations work will help you on November 18 for the Extraordinary Give as well as the rest of the year!

Join us for first ExtraGive Tech Talk of 2016, featuring John Trybus, Director of Georgetown University’s Center for Social Impact Communication and adjunct professor who has advised clients like Tiffany & Co,  L’Oreal Paris, Coca-Cola, Safeway, Microsoft, Amgen Foundation, Women for Women International and more! Learn about storytelling best practices and how to make sure your organization puts its best foot forward with this fun, engaging workshop!

Tech Talk #2: Getting Your Board On Board

Thursday, September 29, 8:30-11am & 1-4pm

For any nonprofit, maintaining an active, engaged board is essential to being successful in your programming and overall sustainability. The Extraordinary Give is only one day of the year, but having a plan for keeping your board advocating for you will ensure your organization hits its stride all 365 days (plus leap years)!

Do you have board members who are allergic to fundraising? Are your board meetings perfunctory and dry, or worse, draining? Were clear expectations of board service not properly set with your board members? Professional speaker, trainer, and nationally-reknowned nonprofit founder Rachel Muir will help guide you through top tips and tools to motivate and inspire your board!

Due to high demand there will be two sessions on this topic, a morning (8am-11) and afternoon (1pm-4), both held at the Ware Center
