Robert “Bob” Derr Memorial Scholarship Fund

This fund honors Bob Derr and his legacy of coaching and teaching at Warwick for 49 years.

Robert L. Derr, Jr., died at the age of 75. A dedicated educator, coach, and community leader, Bobby spent over five decades mentoring youth in Lititz, PA. A 1968 graduate of Warwick High School, Bobby earned his degree in Health and Physical Education from West Chester University. He spent his career teaching and coaching wrestling, track & field, and girls’ field hockey at Warwick, where he positively impacted thousands of student-athletes.

Bobby was a passionate advocate for youth sports and community involvement, founding the Warwick Youth Field Hockey Program and leading the girls’ field hockey team to three state championships. He officiated wrestling for over 50 years, earning numerous honors, including induction into several Hall of Fames. His legacy as a coach is carried on by 57 former players who went on to become coaches themselves.

Known for his unwavering commitment to teaching life skills and character, Bobby mentored over 1,500 athletes, emphasizing discipline, sportsmanship, and the importance of fun. In honor of his legacy, a scholarship fund has been established to continue his impact on future generations of youth in his community.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Kathleen, three children – Danielle, Bree and Andy, seven grandchildren, and extended family. His love for family, sports, and community will live on in the hearts of those he touched. The Robert ‘Bob’ Derr Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to help ensure Bobby’s legacy continues to make a difference in the lives of youth and athletics in his community.
