Millhouse Legacy Fund
Four sisters, granddaughters of Abram and Grace Millhouse, established the Millhouse Legacy Fund after realizing no great grandchildren would carry on the family name.

Grammy and Pappy Millhouse raised their five children in a modest Conestoga home without indoor plumbing. Their grandchildren cherished summer visits, spending a week there each year. Mondays meant hand-cranking laundry through a wringer and hanging it outside to dry. The porch served as a place to brush teeth—using a glass to rinse and spit over the railing—and was also where everyone joined Grammy to shell peas and lima beans from the large garden. These experiences are treasured memories.
Through the Lancaster County Community Foundation, the four Millhouse sisters created an endowed fund. Each year they gather, take turns nominating charities, and then vote to make a donation from the Millhouse Legacy Fund. This allows them to honor their family name while supporting causes that matter to them.
