About the Organization:
The Junior League of Lancaster is an organization of women committed to developing the potential of women, improving the community through the effective action of trained volunteers, and promoting voluntarism. The Junior League of Lancaster focuses its support on a variety of community projects, committing financial support and hundreds of volunteer hours in an effort to fulfill our mission of improving the community. Past projects in the Lancaster community include the Wheatland and Rock Ford restorations, the local chapter of the National Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Hands on House Children’s Museum, three Woman-Build houses with Habitat for Humanity, Deb’s House, and Leadership Lancaster. We currently dedicate our membership and financial resources in our focus area of childhood education, with “Kids in the Kitchen,” a project that addresses the epidemic of childhood obesity, and our “Girls in Business” project, an annual business plan competition for high school girls in Lancaster County.
Why is endowment important to your mission?
“The Junior League of Lancaster has an extensive history of improving the community. Our endowment ensures that we will be able to continue making a positive impact in the community well into the future. Instead of directing important resources to implementing additional fundraisers, our endowment allows us to focus more of our time, effort and energy on researching community needs, developing projects to address those needs, and going into the community to meet those needs. Through our endowment, our generous donors can be confident that the Junior League of Lancaster will continue to address important issues facing our community for many years to come.”
