About the Organization

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen believes that the making of craft enriches all and seeks to nurture education, creation, and widespread availability in traditional, heritage, and contemporary crafts for all ages.  The Guild advocates, teaches, and supports the making of craft throughout Lancaster and Pennsylvania on a daily basis, through classes, workshops, exhibitions, lectures, studio tours, craft shows and demonstrations.  Having opened a new Center of American Craft in downtown Lancaster this year, the Guild is expanding the availability of workshops, classes, exhibitions, and craft related opportunities to the Lancaster community.

Why is endowment important to your mission?

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen offers programming for all levels of artists, from enthusiast, to professional practicing craftsperson.  The boost in funding that endowment provides allows these programs to expand in depth and quality year by year.  Education is central to the mission, and the Guild provides diverse and quality instructors and class schedules to a range of different age and interest groups.  Endowment allows The Guild to seek out the best instructors and teachers in craft, improve and expand class content in response to the desires and needs of the organizations community and students.
