We are proud to announce $250,000 in grant investments to five local community benefit organizations whose innovate approaches are creating positive impact within the county. Grants are from the Foundation’s Creative Solutions Matching Program, which supports implementation of creative solutions that increase financial stability and/or quality of life.
Grantee Partners include:
Community Action Partnership (CAP) -$49,110 will support the “We Can Do It Campaign,” a project aimed at helping women see possibility in non-traditional career fields with a need for employees, such as welding, construction, and machining. The campaign’s call-to-action will connect women wishing to leave a job with low pay or low advancement potential to a CAP Navigator to map out a training or employment plan with community partners and local employers.
Thaddeus Stevens College – $50,600 will support “Thaddeus Stevens Graduates Drive to Work,” a graduation-to-work transition project launching low-income Thaddeus Stevens College graduates into living wage careers. The collaborative project will address transportation and self-sufficiency barriers that limit employment options for students.
Lancaster Health Center – $60,000 for a multi-faceted program designed to help people with opioid addiction to pursue recovery;
Bethany Christian Services – $60,000 for a System of Care approach to support pregnant women with substance abuse disorders in Lancaster County Prison;
ASSETS – $30,290 to support Measure What Matters, a program seeking to build an ecosystem of socially conscious business locally, harnessing the power of the private sector as a force for good in Lancaster County.
In 2018, the Community Foundation will invest nearly $2 million dollars in Lancaster County organizations in addition to inspiring the community to donate millions more during the Extraordinary Give. Trained community volunteers and staff review grant proposals and recommend grants to the Community Foundation Board of Directors who ultimately approve the investments.Back to All News
