General Scholarships

Thanks to generous donors with a passion for supporting the future generation, each year we are able to award scholarships to help advance Lancaster County students’ education. We offer scholarships for students pursuing an education in any field of study and you can apply at any stage of your undergraduate career.

Scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 school year are CLOSED. Applications for the 2025-2026 school year will open November 1st.

Shaping Tomorrow Scholarships

In 2024, the Lancaster County Community Foundation celebrates its 100th anniversary! For the past 100 years, the Community Foundation has supported the county in small and large ways to help it become such a wonderful place to live, work, and play in our neighborhoods, the beautiful countryside, and within our bustling city. We know Lancaster County is only great when all of us thrive. To celebrate 100 years of history, we want to catalyze the future of students that will move Lancaster County forward for the next 100! We want to support education that focuses on 4 broad categories: Creative Expression, Well-Being and Vibrancy, Our Planet, and Next Generation.

The Shaping Tomorrow Scholarships will be available to Lancaster County students planning a course of study in Creative Expression, Well-Being and Vibrancy, Our Planet, and Next Generation. $2,500 for one year.

8 scholarships available for the 2024-2025 school year, 2 awards per category.

Albert S. Rosman

Available to Conestoga Valley High School students regardless of the field of study. $1,500 for one year.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

Charles W. Shoff

Available to Lancaster County students planning a course of study in Geology, Medicine, Agriculture, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Drafting. $1,000 per year, renewable.

3 scholarships available for the 2024-2025 school year.

George W. McKibbin

Available to African American students from Lancaster County. $2,000 per year, renewable.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

James R. Buescher

Available to Lancaster County students planning a course of study in Creative Writing, Journalism, Marketing, Mass Communication, and Media Studies. $500 for one year.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

Jack and Ginny Lykins Scholarship Fund

The Jack and Ginny Lykins Scholarship Fund is intended to fund full-time, post-secondary education for qualified students expressing interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math, computer science) or healthcare curricula. $3,000 per year renewable.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

Jason M. Truitt

Available to any current, graduating high school senior or recent graduate who is or was a Big or Little with Big Brother Big Sisters of Lancaster County. $400 for one year.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

Joseph and Claudine Hess

Available to all Lancaster County students regardless of the field of study. $2,000 per year, renewable up to four years.

3 scholarships available for the 2024-2025 school year.

McKonly & Asbury Scholarship Fund for Future Public Accounting Leaders

The McKonly & Asbury Scholarship Fund for Accounting will support rising juniors, seniors, or 5th year college students, pursuing a degree at Messiah University, Penn State Harrisburg, Shippensburg University, Millersville University, and Commonwealth University Bloomsburg Campus in accounting or equivalent that have a desire for a career in public accounting. This scholarship requires a minimum 3.0 GPA. $10,000 for one year.

5 scholarships available for the 2024-2025 school year, 1 award per university.

Nathan Schaeffer Scholarship Fund

Scholarships are awarded to Lancaster County students attending Millersville University in the field of education. The student can be either full- or part-time, and undergraduate or graduate. $750 for one year.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

Tina Bresnahan College Scholarship

Available to any current, graduating Lancaster County high school senior planning to attend Millersville, HACC Lancaster, or Thaddeus Stevens. Full, in state, tuition and fees for one year.

1 scholarship available for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Community Foundation is a participating partner in PHEAA’s PATH (Partnerships for Access to Higher Education) program, which means that some of our scholarship awards could be matched by PHEAA on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $2,500.

How does the PATH program work? You don’t apply for it directly. If you receive one of our scholarships, we will send you a release form with additional information that we need, then we will send the recommendation to the PHEAA PATH program.
